Netizens of singapore

The idea of getting the red dot wired up does work for a purpose..  to really create one nation, one Singapore and this includes both locals and the new-comers. The latter has to embrace the local culture, where most is digitalised. With little  natural resources to depend on, we have to depend on ourselves and the machines.. oops.. technology! Reasons being: Efficiency! And to ensure efficiency, we need technology. The affordances that technology provide, helps Singapore to boost its economy generally. However, opportunity cost comes in... values and social behaviour  are negatively affected. (.. to be continued)

  1. Yes, Singapore being very small ( a red dot ;) )it relies heavily on its natural resource (people - its citizens) to help it to boost its economy etc. Harnessing the goodnes of technology to jumpstart the economy would certainly help Singapore and Singaporeans tremendously.

  2. Values and social behaviour.....the impatience you mentioned in class right? Yes, sometimes I do wonder what we are chasing after. What is wrong with being a kampong? Is it true that we cannot survive without technology? Would we be less happy? I think I am one of those who is pulled into it because of a need to survive, not that I like or want to.

  3. agree..and i hope technology will help boost companies ability to earn money cos apparently they will be asked to shut if they do not bring in money... (read this from the papers recently). I am sure with that in the pipeline.. we are going to be ever-more efficient!! :)

  4. I strongly agree, Sit zac. In fact, I have deep admiration towards Singaporeans' commitment to the pledge I hear every morning. It is appreciated by all locals and non-locals like me. How I wish respectable, honest, service-oriented and dependable government officials lead my country, too. This, I reckon, is the underlying reason why there is no such thing as 'impossible' for Singapore. Innovations in all fields especially in technology are the norms expected and promoted. Unsurprisingly, Singaporeans’ tendency to aim for success, perfection, and efficiency in almost all aspects of their lives inevitably has permeated their way of life. Nothing comes easy along the way as expectations are high. Well, that’s why, Singapore may be said to be technology personified.
